Reis Low is an arts manager and maker. They are Wit’s Projects and Workshops Manager… and a fab dancer.

How did you come to work with Wit?

I saw a general callout last year (2021) and after running into two members at a casual Front of House gig, I put my interest in for a number of roles. A few months later, Wit rang about a stage manager position for the production Every Second. It feels like ages ago, weird how time flows.

You are a fab dancer as well as a producer. How did you start dancing?

😳 Thank you! Excluding the childhood ballet classes, I started learning street dance styles after getting into kpop haha. I quickly found myself more drawn to certain styles, especially the richness of their histories, foundations, current movers and shakers, and exploring my style. I continue to do classes/ sessions when time allows.

What projects are you excited about this year (Wit or otherwise)?

I'm really excited to locally tour our upcoming show, that's a new experience for me! I am also supremely keen to get another show up that had to be pushed back from last year, Infinite Affection

What kind of theatre do you want to see more of this year?

Watching theatre, i’m craving both to be compelled and to have an intimate, quiet moment; being busy is a bit like that. I also love works with physical storytelling. All in all, I think there will be plenty out there this year, the tricky part is making time to see them all.

Who inspires you?

So, so many people. To run with the theme though, my mother. We’ve always been quite different people — I was a “lazy” child who did just well enough to get away with it, while she’s extremely hardworking. Now that I’m working, the sheer amount of work that she does amazes me. Capitalism aside, I admire her rigour, competency, and hard-earned knowledge, experience, and ability to focus for long hours. It takes consistent work over a long period of time to develop these things, which inspires me but also reminds me to respect where I am in my journey as well.
