Sasha Leong in ‘Clay is an Original Form’ directed by Iris Chang

Sasha Leong is an actor, live performance artist and producer. She is fluent in English, Malay, and conversational Mandarin and Cantonese. She is also Wit’s newest recruit.

How did you come to work with Wit?
Oh, wow! I don't remember how I connected with Wit - it was many years ago. I remember I was looking for an inclusive theatre company in the West and found Wit. I attended a few Sundays with Wit and connected with Lansy. I think I chucked in an EOI to work with Wit at the end of 2020. Then I got invited to the table read for Dear Mama's script in-development mid-2021.

You wear so many hats and have so many skills! How do you balance working in different areas of our industry?

Honestly, I don't know - some days I laugh-cry and ask myself "Why".. half-kidding. It's definitely a challenge and it's taken awhile for me to be okay with saying "No" to projects especially when I have too much on my plate. The arts will always be home for me, and I enjoy learning about all the different aspects of this industry. It is fun (and doesn't feel like work-work) if it is something I am passionate about.

What projects are you excited about this year (Wit or otherwise)?

Not to be bias, I definitely look forward to Dear Mama - but, no spoilers, right? So I guess people will have to look out for the ticket release and come to the show 😉.

What kind of theatre do you want to see more?

Who (or what) inspires you?

My late-maternal grandfather inspired me to be selfless and compassionate. It's at the core of my values. I'm also super grateful to be surround by supportive networks of people who share similar values as I do, who excel at what they do and work tirelessly to keep paving opportunities for others.
