Wit Incorporated are looking for a new Committee Member
Are you passionate about theatre and performing arts, and keen to have an impact on the direction and growth of a small and agile arts company?
Are you looking for an opportunity to develop your governance practice or theatre-making experience?
Do you have an interest in budgets and finance management?
Wit Incorporated is looking for people to join our Committee and help guide the Company over our next few years of development. In particular, we are seeking a Treasurer. We are interested in hearing from people who are passionate about theatre and the arts, and keen to learn and grow with us. As such, we encourage you to apply or enquire at any experience level.
Treasurers play a key role in:
Creating company and project budgets.
Tracking income and expenditure and preparing quarterly financial reports for the Committee.
Completing end of financial year reconciliation and reporting.
Financial administration and processing (paying invoices, compiling receipts, monitoring bank accounts, etc)
Who should apply?
This position could suit someone who:
Has an interest in the arts and a passion for theatre.
Is looking to gain producing or arts management experience
Has experience or interest in learning to create and manage arts budgets
And/or is interested in gaining governance experience

What is Wit Incorporated’s Committee?
Wit Incorporated is an Incorporated Association (we’re technically Wit Incorporated Inc!), and as such have a Committee of Management which looks after the affairs of the Company.
The key duties of the Committee include:
Contributing to decisions around Company direction and strategic planning
Ensuring the purposes of the Company are being achieved
Maintaining the Company’s financial viability
Keeping up to date with legal requirements
Committee roles include the Chair, Treasurer, Secretary and General Members. In accordance with our Rules of Incorporation, the Chair of our Committee is our Artistic Director Lansy Feng. This rule helps ensure the Company remains artist-led.
Our outgoing is Megan Mitchell, our Secretary is Emma Drysdale, and General Members include Madeleine Magee Carr, Sasha Leong Reis Low, Jarman Oakley and Jessica Orrey.
Committee roles are voluntary, however Committee member also have the opportunity to take on operational responsibilities which come with a gratuity.
What does being a Committee Member mean?
Committee roles are a voluntary commitment. We meet roughly once a month. These meetings include chats about upcoming shows and other artistic ventures, as well as finances, and key strategic decisions. Outside of meetings, there may be decisions or updates that require Committee support, which will be circulated via email.
In addition, Committee members are invited to all performances, events and workshops as our guest. Being on a Committee is a fab way to develop your creative network and make an active contribution to theatre that excites you, as well as gaining governance skills.
